Buying e21 in Eesti

Postitus Postitas taksists »

Sorry for posting this not in the right place, but since I do not understand Estonian it was rather hard for me to find where to post it...

So.. I would like to know what is the situation with e21 on sale in Estonia. In Latvia, for instance, it is almost impossible to buy a normal (not overrusted) e21. Are there any free-message-boards (like www.autobors.ee) on Estonian internet? Maybe some other sources to look through?
I will be thankful for any info.

hi,

it is quite interesting to know, how you found this community?

now about your question - with some exceptions, the e21's in estonia are also of bad body quality (rusted or repaired awfully). i think the situation is the same in latvia as well. it might be worse, because after ww II latvia has generally been more interested in oldschool cars than estonia - so well-preserved e21's have also already found their owners of interest in old cars.

the e21 market has been under supervision of me and Nuga for over 2 years - during that time we have travelled throughout estonia, seen photoes of cars on sale. in conclusion - 5% of cars can be considered "easily restorable".

anyway, i can assure you that mirracles can happen, usually e21's with smaller engines and located in the countryside can be quite well preserved - in estonia as well as in latvia. no digital photoes of those cars are usually availabe, so you just have to travel throughout latvia (and estonia) to find something like that.

now, a user of our community, bronco (bronco888@hotmail.com) is offering a ´82 318i for sale. the car is in good condition and is in everyday use, but the price is also worthy (~650 eur). and the price doesn't include 15" alloys (now a different persons sells these for 150-200 eur).

in conclusion. i think it is easier to find a suitable car from latvia than from estonia - because the climate is almost the same and has its efect on the cars.

regards,
sysi.
